Procrastination is a term that you probably have seen a million times already. It literally means ‘the action of unnecessarily and voluntarily delaying or postponing something despite knowing that there will be negative consequences for doing so’. Every person that wants to achieve something, from getting off the couch to work out or wanting to make a million dollars, deals with some sort of procrastination. Some of them are just better at dealing with it than others. What can you do to avoid this and take the actions you need to accomplish your goals?

Make an action list/to do list
Create better habits
To be more productive and to procrastinate less, you might have to change some habits first. It takes a while to change habits or create new ones, but don’t let this discourage you. Habits usually take 20-60 days to get into your system, depending on how big of a change it will be. To motivate yourself, you should try using a Habit Tracker. Write down all of the habits you want to get used to and cross them off when you’ve completed them for that day. The more you can cross off, the more accomplished you will feel.
To achieve the goals you have in mind, you must get some work done. But getting there might feel a little overwhelming. There are so many things you have to do. When are you ever going to find time to do all of that? Your to-do list will help you out in keeping a clear overview of all of your tasks.

Our top tips:
-
Split all of your to-do’s for the week in different sections: quick tasks (things you can do in 5 minutes or less), to-do's (15 minutes or less) and projects (1 hour or less). When you know how much time different tasks will take you, it will become a lot easier to manage your time and get things done.

-
Regarding time management, keep track of how long it takes you to finish certain tasks. This will make planning in the future a lot easier and more time efficient.
-
Write down your 3 priorities daily, with number 1 being the most important. Make sure you get these three things done. If you have time to do any other tasks on your list, that’s great!
-
Mix quick tasks with bigger projects throughout the day. If your days are filled with big projects that require all of your focus, you’ll most likely get tired or will feel overwhelmed. Try to find the right balance. If you know you’ll get more work done in the morning, plan your bigger projects before your lunch break. After lunch you can focus on the smaller tasks which will make you feel a little less stressed.
Remove your distractions
One of the most common reasons you probably aren’t finishing what you started, is because you get distracted. Whether that’s by your phone, your computer or because someone starts talking to you. Try to remove distractions before you start working on your tasks. Turn off your phone or put it in another room. It will make it a lot easier to focus on your tasks, because your distractions aren’t in your sight anymore.
Don’t negotiate with your mind
We all have that inner voice that tries to convince us to just stay on the couch to watch another episode of our favorite series instead of working out. Even though you already know that you have to finish your to-do list, that inner voice sometimes wins from what you really want. At the end of the day you’ll most likely feel like you’ve wasted your time doing things that weren’t important. Why do we keep doing this to ourselves? We deserve the best life we can live. We deserve to move, to learn, to eat healthy, to make a lot of money and be happy. So, why don’t we start acting like it? Try to ignore that inner voice that doesn’t want you to achieve your goals. Count to 5 and get off the couch. Count to 5 and grab your laptop to work on your to do list. Count to 5 and put your phone away. Make yourself proud instead of being disappointed at the end of the day that you didn’t do what you said you would. "The secret of your future is hidden in your daily routine". Try to make the best out of it.
